Our new treadmill and yes I will use it!! plus detox update

After walking for what seemed miles on holiday and now starting our 10 day detox we wanted to keep up the momentum and bought ourselves a second hand treadmill.  I've got to admit that I will probably be using this the most, I tend to take the dogs out each day for their daily walk, but with quite a  heavy workload I find it hard to do anything more, hence the treadmill.

I wanted it placed somewhere that it could be used quickly to avoid getting unmotivated thinking that I would have to spend time setting it up before using it and this was one excuse that I wanted to avoid.  The plan is to use this every 1-2 days gradually building myself up in time, speed and incline, only time will tell.  This is also a foldable treadmill so it's perfect for what we need.  Hubbie and our teenage runners have started using it too and it's brought out the competitive side of the family.

So what did we buy, we bought the York Aspire Treadmill with Pro Fitness Floor Mat, it is so easy to use and alternate between different speed and incline settings.  Love checking my pulse too to see how I'm doing as well as seeing how many calories I'm burning.  Where as the boys are more concerned about how far they have done, again competitive side rearing it's head again.

Product Description

Detox Update
So we are now on Day 4 and we are still going well, neither hubbie or I have found ourselves hungry which is a massive help. We had a little dip teatime on Day 2 were we both felt a nauseous but we were expecting that as the author mentions about the toxins from your body leaving.  We've had fun with the dry brushing too. The recipes are going down well, a couple we're ok but we're really sticking to it to.  My favorite recipes so far have to be ...

Breakfast
Blueberry Nut Millet

Lunch
Sweet Potato Salad

Dinner
Lucky Soup
Asparagus Soup
(and no it's not only soup on the dinner menu lol)

Trying out the Ozeri Digital Pedometer

Our first step to improve our lifestyle has officially started, when we were asked to try out the Ozeri Digital Pedometer, although hubbie decided that he would be the one to try and review this time!!

What an amazing little gadget, lightweight, easy to use and you will want to use it every day. Since I received this product it has made a difference to my life.  I never realised how far I walked on a daily basis or how many calories I used doing it. Every minute of the my working day it is in my pocket (yes that easy) and is recording my mileage. The beauty of having something so slim and lightweight is you can have a peak without being told off, like you are with your mobile phone.

After using and showing a colleague the product we are now having a daily challenge to see who is doing the most steps adding a bit of fun and competition to the working day.

The information that this gadget holds is amazing ....
  •         number of steps taken
  •         calories used
  •         miles walked
  •         time it has taken
  •         total mph
  •         running total from past days of each category
At the end of the day it stores that information and then keeps a running total.  You can also go back each day to remind yourself .  If you like simple gadgets that can make a difference to your lifestyle and adds a fun factor this is the product for you.

With the information of how many calories you have used walking it does make you think about the food and drink you absorb and since using this device for 8 days, I have lost 2lb in weight and have started walking to work which again is improving my health.

If I have not yet convinced you to use this product hopefully the information of my personal record will from the week of using it.

TOTAL STEPS          77130

TOTAL CALORIES   2468.1
TOTAL MILES           36,52
TOTAL TIME             834 minutes
MILES PER HOUR   2.62

An excellent product which will make a difference to your overall lifestyle.

This weekend at the NECAA Track and Field Championships at Gateshead Stadium

We spent both Saturday and Sunday this week over at Gateshead International Stadium to watch the North Eastern Counties Athletic Association Track and Field Championships for 2014.  Our eldest son was also taking part in the 1500m event on Saturday and the 800m on Sunday.  Both days were jam packed with lots of different events, so much going on.

As always, we arrived early and was blessed by a beautiful sunny day, although not ideal weather for athletes. I was especially looking forward to some of the field events like the Javelin, Pole Vault and Long Jump.

A brand new experience was in store which made him feel like a total professional , he had to warm up away from the track in the warm up arena next to the stadium and then had to register and was finally lead out onto the track by officials just before his race.

Just like all the other proud parents we watched his races nervously cheering him on.  We we're really pleased with both his runs and especially as he improved his 1500m personal best to 4 minutes 28.6 seconds. On the second day of events he was also cheered on by his 81 year old proud grandfather in his 800m race where he recorded a seasons best time of 2 minutes 08 .55 seconds.

The whole event was extremely well organised and the athletes could even have a sports massage which my son took advantage of, which really helped with his tired muscles.

He continued trying out his new training kit from SportsShoes.com, his definite favourite item is the Nike Running Top with it being lightweigtht, it's really comfortable to wear.  Due to the breathable material it hasn't made him sweat and it is designed to protect against UV rays.

The Power of 10 mission has inspired and motivated improved standards of performance since its inception in 2006. The Power of 10 is instilling a real sense of purpose and value that has witnessed greater depth and higher standards in the vast majority of events across all age groups.
