I stumbled upon Sharon Martin of Beck Valley Books when I was seeking book reviews for my newly published book. She mentioned that she belonged to a group who did Book Tours and asked if I would be interested. Having already signed up for two other book tours, I was not sure, but thought I would give it a try.
ReplyDeleteSharon's Tour turned out to be one of the best things I have done to promote my book! Her reviewers posted as scheduled - we lost one due to the power failures caused by Hurricane Sandy but Sharon immediately had another blogger step in to cover it. Her bloggers wrote intelligent reviews making me believe they actually read the book and posted them all around the web on Amazon, Goodreads and Nook as promised. They were not all five star reviews, and I appreciated that. The reviews were honest. This may not seem heroic or remarkable to anyone other than someone who has had a less than professional book tour. I have had both good and bad tours and Sharon stands head and shoulders above any of them. Sharon's Book Tour for DOG-MA, THE ZEN OF SLOBBER was stellar!
Sharon is also a wonderful tour manager sending links to me everyday for the current day's tour and posting to Twitter, Facebook and other places in cyberspace. I do not know why, but Sharon's tweets get retweeted at a much higher rate than other blog tour hosts I have used. She stays on top of the job, keeping it fresh. I gained many new Twitter followers, developed new author relationships I would not have otherwise found, sold plenty of books but mostly I found a new dependable colleague. We already have another tour planned.

ReplyDeleteSharon was a dream to work with, just uber-helpful, even going so far as to help me build a better blog. That reminds me, I still have some changes to make! She keeps you posted every step of the way. I just love that, because indy marketing is lonely work. I often feel I'm painting a house with a nail polish brush. It's nice to have an angel like Sharon show up with great treats day after day. Emotionally I really needed this. It came at just the right time. Marketing can be so frustrating. After all, I'm a writer, not a marketing genius. When you discover you've wasted more money and valuable writing time on marketing that just didn't pan out, it can really drag your spirits down. ReplyDeleteWe have since done two book tours for our book "If I Should Die Before My Dog". Sharon did such a wonderful job for us on both tours. She makes it so seem so easy and takes her job very seriously. Not to mention taking the stress out of your books promotion. Her daily emails kept us informed, the bloggers she finds for each tour are wonderful. They give honest reviews, posts are done on time and posted to Amazon, Barnes and Noble and many other places that we didn't expect. We too, through Sharon have met many wonderful people.
It is amazing how much our two tours have helped in selling "If I Should Die Before My Dog"!
We will do another tour or two with Sharon, through our book tours she has become a valued friend, I don't think you could ask for more!

The glowing comments above convined me to e-mail Sharon to ask for more details on her book tours. I'm so glad I did. As several mentioned above, it has been the best thing we've done so far in promoting Guiamo and it was by far worth every penny. The cost was very reasonable.
ReplyDeleteOur experience with Beck Valley Books was a positive one from start to finish. Sharon, who does the computer side of things, was quick to answer any questions I had and stayed on top of all that needed to be done. She went above and beyond in helping to promote Guiamo. Even after the tour was over, she offered to post about a giveaway we were doing as part of the Blogger Book Fair. Many companies do what they were paid for and then move on. I'm confident that Beck Valley Books will be a valuable partner in continuing to share the news of Guiamo with others.
One of the things I was extremely pleased with was that the alexa rating for many of the blogs showed that they received quite heavy traffic. Doing a tour is great, but if no one looks at the blogs hosting, it won't do much good. We have gained many readers and many when asked where they heard of Guiamo say it was from Beck Valley Books.

DeleteI've never done a book blog tour before, but Sharon Martin of Beck Valley Books showed me the way into the Brave New World of book promotion! She delivered the book into hands of her network of dedicated bloggers who gave me honest feedback and left helpful reviews (not all five-stars either, but helpful nonetheless--haha).
ReplyDeleteI'm not a social media maven by any means, so Sharon also guided me through the strange lands of Twitter and Facebook by reweeting and re-posting so many links that by the end of the tour I was getting sick of talking about my book!
But above all, most importantly, Sharon is a total sweetheart to work with. Even though we're in different countries, she seemed to always be available to answer my questions and follow-up emails. In fact, sometimes I wondered if she was a bot--or a serious insomniac--as she always seemed to be ready to tackle any request that I had. If there were any problems, you quickly addressed them. The Witch's Salvation got wonderful reviews, but more importantly, exposure. I was so surprised at the number of people who entered to win a copy of the book (over 10,000!). DeleteSharon did a phenomenal job with my Knowing Vera Review Tour. Not only did she gather a group of awesome bloggers, but she kept on top of the schedule daily. I never had to worry whether a post went out or not, and if there was an unforeseen issue with a blogger, Sharon quickly recruited a replacement blogger to host and make up for the miss. The tour went off without a hitch due to Sharon's diligence and wonderful communication.

Most of the reviews that came in were very gratifying. For the few that were not quite as gratifying, I would like to offer my thanks for having read my book and for giving the book your honest and authentic review. I would especially like to thank Sharon Martin, Sharon was really my only direct contact and her handling of the various bumps and glitches that came up as the book tour proceeded was spectacular. She made the process effortless. I will recommend Beck Valley Books to every author I know.
I would also like to thank all of the respondents to the book give away. You are not responsible for the thoughts and feelings that come over you in response to a bad experience, but you are responsible with what you then do in reaction to those thoughts.

I have had three book blog tours with Sharon and her wonderful team of bloggers, and every time it was extremely well put together, professionally executed, ran very smoothly, with thoughtful and honest reviews. It is always a pleasure working with Sharon and she produces exactly what she says she will do, and pulls everything off in a timely manner. I've tried another book tour at a different site just to mix things up, but ran back to Beck Valley for follow up tours because nobody can beat the tours Sharon pulls off. ReplyDeleteI've done a couple of book tours but Beck Valley Books is by far one of the best ones! Sharon updated me daily with links to the day's tour stop. I had over 8,000 people enter to win the giveaway. Also, nothing beats seeing your book review number climb on Amazon. I now have over 50 reviews! I HIGHLY recommend Beck Valley Books. When my next book is released, Beck Valley is the first book tour I'm going to book!

Sharon is organized, sending me links each day to the blog post; the bloggers she works with are articulate and write honest and helpful reviews; she tweets each day's post and her posts are retweeted--bringing awareness to even more readers; she handles the giveaway, making it easy for me to simply send the gift card to the reader; the number of reviews I have on Amazon, B&N, Goodreads, etc has grown exceptionally. The dates for the blog stops were set well ahead, and all posts were done in a timely manner. Each blogger had an established platform with followers. They each cross-posted on more than one site, and I was emailed links at the beginning of each day.

DeleteWorking with Sharon and her bloggers is a treat! Sharon's friendly and organized. She follows the tour and comments at each stop. She promotes the posts on social media as well. I wish all blog tour companies were run like Sharon runs hers. And her bloggers are also super. If they signed up to review a book, they not only follow through on their commitment to post to their blog, but they are prompt about posting to the retailers.

You make certain there is a review each day, even if a host fails to post, and you always send the links, not just to the host's site but to Amazon, Nook, and the other sites as well. Not all coordinators do these things! Thank you so much!

I received the links every day and reviews were always posted in a timely manner. On one occasion when Sharon was unable to confirm with a review, she ran promotions instead.
