Running with knowledge - Beets BLU Wireless Heart Rate Monitor Review

Now my son is slowly starting to recover from his running injuries, he is managing to run up to 30 minutes without major issues.  All thanks to the work of his physiotherapist for guiding him and planning his daily exercise routine and running sessions over the last few months.  We are hopeful that this will continue to get him back to full strength and competing, which he has badly misses.

His new training device, a heart rate monitor, is also another tool he can use to when training to track his fitness, endurance and performance.  He tried the Beets BLU heart rate monitor which is wireless, so need need for any adapters, it has a long life battery that lasts up to a year, is really lightweight and  not bulky to wear at all.

The heart rate monitor came with an elasticated strap which is quite soft to the touch and is adjustable.  The actual monitor snaps into the strap with strong press studs.  Set up was really easy as he already has a Nike running app on his iPhone, so as soon as the strap (with the electrodes) and monitor touched his skin it started automatically.  Then it was just a case of  pairing the devices up and that was it! (The device can be used on a number of recommended apps too)

So now it was set up and we knew what we were doing it was time for him to try it out whilst running, both to see how it felt for him and how well it worked. 

Simple to wrap around your chest and then click/snap it in to it's final position.  Obviously you don't want it too tight, it has to be comfortable enough to be able to run.

Off he went on his first run with the heart rate monitor and I'm pleased to say he managed to run another 30 minutes without any major issues from his calf and foot.

When he returned and had cooled off, he couldn't wait to see how he had been measured throughout the run.

The image above shows the overall monitoring throughout the run, the image below shows that you can scroll throughout the run to find more information at a given point.  (Different running apps will show different information or displays). 

It's so great to get this information from such a small device.  As his fitness increases his heart rate should gradually reduce and his pace compared to heart rate should gradually improve. It will also help him to track his endurance too by seeing how long his heart rate holds before it increases as he tires as well as prevent overtraining.

There will no doubt be other features within his running app that the heart rate monitor will be useful for, which we will have the fun to find out.  Plus this will also be a great addition when working on the treadmill and when we go cycling, especially while I'm on my detox and trying to lose weight.

The magnets arrive on an easy to separate sheet as you can see below and it only took 2 days to receive.  I folded one way and then the other and they separated perfectly.  Although I did think about leaving them as a sheet which is also a nice idea but then you can't have the fun of  arranging them on your fridge etc.

Memories on Canvas from Canvas Dezigns Review and Giveaway

We have so many pictures, years of memories, stored in albums in the cupboard, on CD's in the draw and even still stored on our phones and camera's still to do yet we never seem to find the time to really sit back and enjoy them and take that trip down memory lane.  That's the beauty of having one of your favourite images transferred to a canvas picture, being able to see it every day as you walk past and smile which is what we immediately thought as soon as we saw one of photographs from our Nephew's wedding.  One thing we never seem to get is a picture with all four of us in together, one of us is normally too busy taking it, so having all four of us together dressed to the nine's gave us the incentive to finally do it.

I absolutely love looking at this, especially at my two boys, they look so grown up now and how smart do they look !!  Not an everyday occurrence I can tell you !!  The wedding took place at Wynyard Hall with such a beautiful setting, it was so breathtaking.

When we had the chance to review a canvas from Canvas Dezign, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to have it done.  It was so simple to order from their website that I wish I had taken the incentive sooner, I also found that they really want the best from the canvas they create for you and will actually let you know beforehand if the quality of your image is not good enough.  I was a little concerned about receiving such a large canvas through the post but I needn't have worried, it was so well packaged and was sent via a courier in just a two days.

What struck me straight away was the actual depth of the canvas compared to one's I have seen before.  It actually measures 38mm and makes such a difference to the overall appearance and quality, it really seems to stand out.  Another difference I noticed was the corner wedges at the back of the frame giving more strength and I suppose to also keep the canvas tighter, which again were not included the one's I had looked at elsewhere.

We were so impressed by the canvas that we actually decided to get another one.  Our favourite holiday destination is The Holy Island/Lindisfarne in Northumberland, such a perfect retreat to escape to.  At high tide the island is cut off from the mainland and you feel that you are alone on your own private island its beautiful, unique and an extremely spiritual place to visit.  This is a picture of us after we had completed the maze with the boys and Harvey the dog!!  It brings back fond memories and makes us feel that bit closer to our special place.

Both canvas prints have transformed our room and make it so much more personal.  The colours are really sharp and really bring the canvas alive.  We both are really pleased with both canvas prints that I cannot recommend trying canvasdezigns enough, I will certainly be using them again when we have another special picture.

Our canvas prints measure 24" wide x 14" high for the Wedding one and the Holy Island measures 24" wide x 18" high.  I think these are so worth it and are really a great price for the quality and complete enjoyment it brings.

Gothic Innocence Jewellery Review and Giveaway !!

When I was asked to review some jewellery for Gothic Innocence I just couldn't wait. The only problem I had was choosing the piece I wanted to review, they all looked so gorgeous and if you like angels especially then you are going to love the selection!!

I managed to narrow it down between the dolphin and angel.  Eventually I chose the angel and I was extremely pleased with it when it arrived.

The angel design looks so delicate as it sits on the blue cameo brooch/pin and it is just so pretty.  What did surprise me was how lightweight it felt, mainly due to the frame itself  being made from a light material rather than heavy metal.  Although the framing is lightweight the actual pin seems very strong.  

All of their pieces are handmade and can be purchased online, the designs range from angels, dolphins to even skull and cross bones, all with a gothic flair.  They can be made to suit your own preferences, you can choose between  pendants and lockets, as well as the 50+ colours and choice of  frames, making it an extra special gift or little present to yourself .  Ideal fashion jewellery for both adult and teenager alike.  Another great idea I had was to actually frame the pieces, this would look amazing with the right framing, you could even have a collection of them, now that's a thought!!
