Book Review
How to get anything you want - Just Like That !
by Janet Poole
About the Author
Janet Poole’s mission in life is to inspire people to take control of their
lives and reach their full potential; to wake up enthusiastic about their
day.
While traveling and working in I.T. in different countries, Janet avidly studied
people and their behavior. This propelled her to explore what lies beneath
everyone's individuality, and why some people are happy with very little and
others miserable in paradise.
Since early childhood, Janet's life has been an
adventure, mostly fabulous but with its fair share of challenges - those times
of course (!) generating the greatest learning and growth. Janet has two
children and lives in New South Wales, Australia with her partner. Janet's
research over 20 years led her to the conclusion that the inner workings of life
are staggeringly simple and that it comes down to one single key: we create what
we think. Janet has followed alternate paths in her quest to understand life,
including quantum physics, neuroplasticity, the link between
brain-body-emotions, NLP Practitioner (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), Taoism,
Masters of the Far East, Eckankar, nutrition and so on.
Book Description
Would you like to live an extraordinary life and in doing so lead others to do
the same? This book seeks to explain to readers the one key to having an
extraordinary life and after acquiring this key, readers will not only be able
to help themselves, but help others as well. Author Janet Poole explains that
the inner workings of life come down to one single key fact: that we, as humans,
create what we think. After reading this book readers will have a better
understanding of what this phrase entails, and will be able to apply the concept
in order to get what they want.
The book aims to address several gaps in
the current self-help genre by breaking away from conventional thinking. It
offers ancient wisdom with a modern twist to reveal the power within and uses
simple scientific explanations to show readers why they can get what they want,
why they are entitled to do so and how doing so helps others.
The author
aims to show readers that they need to consider themselves the most important
figures in their lives; she clarifies this isn't a selfish act, but rather a
selfless move. By placing themselves first and advancing down the path they have
chosen for their lives, Poole believes readers will be able to free their
spirits, allowing them to help others without need for reward.
"Love who you are... and do what you love. You're worth it."
An excellent book which can and will help you change your life for the better. The emphasis of the exercises and guidance in the book is all about your 'self ' - How you see yourself, what pre-determined ideas and beliefs you have and how others react to your behaviour and attitude.
The author takes you through a journey and explains why and how your thoughts and behaviour have been formed. Once you recognize these traits, the author then challenges them and stresses by taking small steps these traits will start to change which will lead to bigger changes to enhance your life.
The challenges and demands which we face in our lives are cleverly broken down into chapters and for each demand/challenge the author gives you an alternative thought process to help you cope. With practice this could lead to that demand/challenge becoming less of an impact on your life and therefore eliminating that problem and as each problem is eradicated your life is enriched.
Reading this book I found myself challenging myself and through this I did feel better and gained confidence. I am sure if I keep going back to the book and using the tools and exercises that I can improve my outlook on life which is what I deserve.
This is a book which is once read must be kept close to hand for reference in case those nagging doubts come back because once re-read I am sure that will be the final end to that problem. An inspiring and easy to read book.
