**   UPDATE - New Cat Version coming out shortly ........... **

"This book is a treasured keepsake - and potential lifesaver - for each and every dog in your life! I not only recommend it, but I'm counting down the days until the authors complete their follow-up book, If I Should Die Before My Cat!" - review from Create With Joy

"The authors have taken pet care to a new level. Normally we have living wills for ourselves, but this is the first time we have included our dogs in it. This is such a wonderful idea. This book is a workbook that dog owners fill out so their best friend is cared for the way they are accustomed to. You can give detailed instructions about every aspect of a dog's life-from his favorite toys, foods he likes, where he likes to sleep, is he afraid of thunderstorms, and much more.  This book gives your dog a voice.   I highly recommend this book to dog owners that want to be sure their dog is well cared for in the event of their death."  - review from Pamela G Maynard

As a Dog Mom this book solves many concerns I think we dog lovers all share. It covers every aspect of our dogs lives. It's written from the dogs point of view. It takes the worry and concern about what will happen to my dog after I'm gone to a different level by allowing us to easily fill in all the needed information for the person who will care for them. It would also help find a new owner if You had to give them up for any reason to an animal rescue. The rescue would be able to read and know everything about them and therefore be able to find them just the right home! It's a beautiful book!" - review from Amazon.com

Guest Post by authors of "If I Should Die Before My Dog --", Joe and Cathy Connolly

Guest Post - "Our Inspiration"
by authors of "If I Should Die Before My Dog --", Joe and Cathy Connolly

We would like to first of all thank Sharon for once again hosting a tour for us, and for all the wonderful bloggers she has found to do the tour.

We were inspired to write this book when both of Cathy's parents died within a few months of each other.  Cathy's father's last words were "Take care of my baby dog."  They left behind  little "Mandy", a twelve year old pomeranian.  Cathy's brother had been the caretaker of their parents for many years, so Mandy was very fortunate.

This left us wondering how many were not that fortunate.  Including our dogs and all the dogs left alone, through death, health impairment, having to give them up to a rescue, divorce, financial woes, and many other circumstances that happen to all of us in life.  These heartbroken, frightened dogs are suddenly left without their human parents, without anyone knowing the "story" of their lives.

This interactive workbook is meant to ease this trauma by going with the dog to the next caregiver.  This transition can be eased by having all of the needed information about the dog such as: habits, grooming, medical, words they know, nicknames, how they were trained and much, much more.  If this book were never needed it then becomes a precious keepsake of  your dear companions life with you.

Our hopes for this book are, that it reaches many dogs and their families and gives comfort and peace of mind to this worrisome subject. We have been "secret pet Angels" helping those who cannot afford  medical treatment, surgery, spaying, neutering etc. for their pets. We also help support many non-profit pet charities.  Now, with this book, we wish to help many more pets in need.

We're what we consider "accidental authors", we took a fleeting thought and after much research on the subject found nothing covering this category.  We had no idea what we were getting into!  After some time we found you don't just publish and go.   And then, watching television one night we saw that if you want to promote something------you join twitter!  Twitter turned out to be one of the best things we could have done.   We met wonderful people there such as Barbara Brunner, author of "Dog-ma, Zen of Slobber" and Clive Eaton, author of "Pyramid Legacy".  These authors gave us many marketing tips and great ideas on how to promote our book.  We give them a very special thank you for their help and guidance.

We are looking forward to the tour and hope everyone enjoys it as much as we will!  Thank you for following!

New Year, New Book Tour for "If I Should Die Before My Dog --" by Joe and Cathy Connolly

New Year, New Book Tour for If I Should Die Before My Dog by authors Joe and Cathy Connolly.

Leila from Life as Leels starts the tour off today, here are some of her thoughts on the book.
"I thought this was one of the greatest things I have ever seen (and have recently been informed that they are publishing one for cats!).

I have never given a thought to what would happen to Jessie, our dog, or how she would feel if something happened to hubby and myself and we weren’t there to take care of her. In fact, this book really shed light on the idea that we really have no one to take her if something were to happen (which is definitely something we need to work on this year)."

Our Book Review
Out of all the books I have reviewed this must be the most important and special book of them all.  Almost all dog owners, including myself, never want to think about the unimaginable heartbreaking and devastating event of not being there to love and care for their dog.  It will certainly make you think, especially after reading Mandy's and Bob's sudden change of circumstances.  With no explanation or way to communicate 'why', the only thing we can do is to ensure that, in our own words, they will be loved and cared for to the highest possible degree by giving as much information to the next carer as possible.

The book may be emotional to look through and complete, it was for me especially when one of my dogs was laid next to me as I was reading it, but it will also make you smile with some of the memories that you fill in.  Two parts to the book certainly made me smile - Words I Know for example Ice-Cream and My Bad Habits and How To Prevent Them, especially as it shows a Labrador with a trainer in it's mouth just like my Border Terrier.

If allowed, my Border Terrier, can be extremely naughty and temperamental so it is vital that any new owner knows how to tackle his behaviour and can show him who the boss is from the start.  For my Border Collie she is a very shy and nervous lady and I need to put across how she reacts and tries to control this herself.

There are some absolutely beautiful illustrations in the book, my particular favourite is a picture of an angel being shown the dogs treasured life story by the owner as the dog sits next to them. Words of wisdom and information are also part of the book as you read through each part.  There is also a beautiful worded note from the dog to it's new owner towards the back along with extra pages titled 'Special Things From My Human'.

As well as vital information such as medical history, insurance cover, personality, food and snack preferences, the book also covers those special intimate details about their characteristics, how they like to be groomed, do they like to be held,  habits, do they like the phone and so on.

A unique, well thought out, beautifully illustrated treasured book for all dog lovers which can also be kept as a loving memory of your dogs life, if you never have to use it's main purpose.
