Melonhead is a SHORT STORY. Enjoy!
People stop and look twice at Louis Smith. His gangly arms and legs and oversized head bring jeers as often as the sun rises. Lonely in a small town at the turn of the century, Louis finds joy with one particular girl, Hilde. Her parents notice the affection between the two and send her to finishing school. With bad luck doubling up on Louis, can he trust Hilde to return? Will his heart break once and for all? Set in Donora, Pennsylvania in the early 1900's, Louis asks himself the most basic question: Is he lovable? Is he doomed to more than his share of life's unfairness?

Our Book Review
A lovely short story, based in Donora, a town very familiar if you have read any of the authors other books. Hilde and Louis were destined to be together, regardless of the cruel words and actions of those around them, their story is one of unconditional love and hope, and demonstrates how love and encouragement can bring out the best of anyone and anything. The author incredibly brings out the emotion of the story so vividly in 5 pages of her work.
