This year was the first time we had ever considered leaving our two rescue dogs whilst going away on holiday, we always go away with them in mind and usually pick beach or lake locations.  This time it was different as we wanted to go back to the capital, London, to do the usual sightseeing and enjoy a couple of the West End shows, not a place for dogs at all.   The second week we planned on going to the coast, Hastings, which is all for the dogs again, but we deliberated and stressed what we were going to do with them.  Part of the reason was they are rescue dogs and we didn't want them to think they were being abandoned all over again but the other reason is Harvey, a Border Terrier with the usual attitude that comes with the breed, very tempremental.

After considering day care at dog centres in London, we found a leaflet in our local vets for Ellehcim Superior Doggy Hotel, Dog Grooming & Animal Care Services, literally 5 minutes up the road in Thorpe Thewles, Stockton on Tees.  What caught my eye the most was the mention of a pet taxi and this paragraph....

So as worried dog parents we bravely arranged a visit.  Ashley and her staff at Ellehcim were really friendly and professional, they put our minds at rest straight away after answering what they must have felt like was a hundred and one questions from us!  The icing on the cake was not only could they board both dogs together, they could also taxi them to London for us just before we start our second week on the coast.  As they also provide doggy day care, we thought this would be excellent for the dogs to go to a few times before leaving them for our week away, so they got used to the surroundings and being left.

So that was it, all sorted, Doggie Day Care booked - Dog Boarding booked - Pet Taxi booked - Holiday Time is on !!

What's so special about doggy day care and the boarding at Ellehcim I hear you ask, its a dog's heaven!  They get fed, watered, walked, played with, cared for, get to chill in their very own doggy lounge and on top of all that they get to stay in their own doggy den newly fitted and have their own TV and underfloor heating.

I am so pleased and relieved to tell you that they settled in really quickly for the doggy daycare and after a fun day there came home happy and shattered and each time we returned their tails would wag and wag.  Whilst they were there we took advantage of the dog grooming too and they came home looking and smelling gorgeous.

We still worried about them while being away, as doggy parents do, but knew they were in safe, caring hands and would be well looked after, as well as being totally tired out each day after having so much fun.  After their week of boarding Ashley's husband drove them both to London to meet us, all as planned with no problem at all, what a wonderful service and we enjoyed our second week's holiday together by the coast.
