Book Excerpt
When her alarm buzzed, the slayer rolled over and hit it with her fist gave a deep sigh. It was a new workday, which meant getting up early and heading to the office. Unlike school, she found, they frowned upon tardiness and skipping a half day's work. There were a lot of things she liked about work, coffee breaks and lunch came to mind, but the work part was kind of a drag.
"Morning," Tristan whispered in her ear and it gave her the slightest tickle.
Sleepily, she grunted her response and smashed her face into her pillow to block out the sun's rays that were gleaming in the open window. His finger lowered her nightgown off her shoulder and kissed her skin gently.
"If you're going to make it to work on time, you're going to have to wake up eventually."
"Can't eventually be later?" Natalie asked and finally rolled over into his arms. He caressed her and went in for a kiss, but she stopped him with a finger to his lips. "I have morning breath."
"When has that ever stopped me before?" Tristan's sexy voice breathed against her lips and he won her over. Natalie couldn't help wrapping her arms around him and giving him a long, sensuous kiss. When they were together, magic happened and lucky for her, they were together all the time now.
Done greeting each other Tristan promised to make the morning pot of coffee. Natalie put on her pink bathrobe, her long blond hair flowing down her back before washing her face in the bathroom.
In the kitchen, she found Tristan still in his pajama bottoms and the tight ribbed t-shirt he wore to bed. The sight was enough to wake any girl up, Natalie thought as she slipped into a seat at the breakfast bar. As first apartments went, it was nice and was more of a townhouse. It turned out being a secretary didn't pay that bad in a dream world, and with Tristan's part time job at the paper, their lives weren't exactly hard.
But that was what the dream world was about and Natalie accepted that. In fact, with watching everything going on in the real world, it was pretty comforting.
"That smells good." Natalie poured herself some orange juice.
"Thanks. Mexican eggs. I got the recipe on Pinterest." Tristan said as he flipped his skillet.
Natalie rolled her eyes. "Don't tell me you're becoming a techo-maniac."
"Tech head no, but if it can improve our lives, why not." Tristan slid the eggs and salad with adjacent avocado slices onto two plates.
The food was steaming, but Natalie took a bite anyway. The mixture of the smooth, silky eggs with the spices of chili pepper and cumin woke up her palate. "This is so good. Cooking really is your hidden talent."
Tristan grinned. "I guess I am good at this domestic thing. Like you're good at the running around in the middle of the night dressed up like a pink superhero thing."
Natalie coughed and sputtered as she sipped some orange juice. So, he had noticed?
About the Author:
I could write this in the third person. I could tell you what I like, where I was born, and what my favorite things are.But instead, I'll say I don't want to write like everyone else. I don't want to craft stories you've read a thousand times before. I want my novels to be a cinematic experience, blending themes, genres, and situations unlike any you've ever read.
I want to break the rules. I want you to break out in a cold sweat as you read my books out of fear, love, and excitement. I want my books to be an experience. When you finish, I want you to feel something. Good or bad.
If you do, then I'll have succeeded. If not, I'll keep trying. Website | Twitter | Facebook | Newsletter | Literary Addicts | Goodreads | Tsu
