The scales I chose were the Ozeri Epicurean Digital Kitchen Scale, purely down to how stylish they looked. When they arrived they looked even better, extremely good quality, modern design with a beautiful mirror effect on them and I completely love them.
Switch them on and you are greeted with a 'hi on the large display', a simple touch chooses between grams, ounces, kilograms and pounds. What I love best of all is when you need to weigh items such as flour or sugar I simply put a plastic bowl on the surface, touched the on button again and the weight went back to zero so I could measure the items without worrying about the weight of the bowl. When I finished cooking it was a simple wipe and straight back in the cupboard. I did ponder on displaying them on my worktop as they do look so nice, the trouble is I have so much on them already, maybe it's time I had a rethink. Apparently the glass weighing area is shatterproof but forgive me for not testing this as I couldn't take the chance on spoiling such a gorgeous item. Highly recommend for treating yourself, go to Amazon.co.uk here to take a look.
So we decided to start off with a simple recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies, yum !!
Recipe - Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients Needed:
75g margarine (3oz)
75g brown sugar (3oz)
1 egg
few drops of vanilla essence
150g self-raising flour (6oz)
pinch of salt
100g plain chocolate chopped (4oz) or
100g chocolate chips (4oz)
Method:
- Cream the margarine and sugar.
- Beat in the egg and essence.
- Stir in the flour, salt and chocolate.
- Place in small spoonfuls on greased baking trays.
- Bake in a moderate oven, 180oC, 350oF, Gas Mark 4 for around 10-15 minutes.
Very easy to make and tastes gorgeous, although you will notice that my son doesn't believe in small spoonfuls when baking cookies :-)
We like both traditional and modern items in our home and couldn't resist showing you this image of how times have changed.

ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great scale. I have a hard time seeing the read on mine when a bowl is on top. This could be a great replacement for mine.

ReplyDeleteThat is a very good looking scale. I have heard only good things about the Ozeri brand. I am starting to do a lot more foodie posts and might need to get one.
