Series Summary:
Memories of the Soviet Union, by A.G. Bonar, is a series of six iBooks describing journeys through Moscow, Georgia, Caucasus, Bukhara and Samarkand from the late 50's until 1968. The iBooks contain audiovisual material and are available in both English and Russian.
The six Books in this series may be divided into three Units: Moscow and environs (Unit 1), Georgia and the Caucasus (Unit 2) and Soviet Central Asia (Unit 3). I suggest that any potential purchaser of the material should preferably think in terms of Units rather than single books since in this way he may acquire a wider understanding of the material. The three Units together show something of the huge variety of the Soviet Union: Moscow with its architectural sophistication yet its still largely peasant population, Georgia with its cultural richness and the romance of the Caucasus, Central Asia with its ancient monuments and exotic populace. I hope the reader will regard the material (which also includes some views of the Crimea and Leningrad) as not only instructive but also as a pleasurable experience.

About the Author:
Andrew Graham Bonar was born in 1933 and went to school in Scotland. Following two years’ national service, during which he was trained as a Russian
interpreter, he attended London University and subsequently Edinburgh University, and some years later, in 1968, joined the British Council and was sent on assignments to several overseas countries including the Soviet Union. Before being posted to Moscow, however, he had already made four visits to the Soviet Union, of which the first three form the subject of this series of six e-books entitled: Memories of the Soviet Union 1957, 1959/60, 1968.
