Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop

This week's question is from Elizabeth

How many bookcases do you have, and how do you organize the shelves??????

My answer....
Seriously dare I answer this !!  We have a house full of books, not only are we massive lovers of  real printed books we also sell books through our online store and yes everything is stored at home.  We have books all over the place, so many bookcases far too many to count.

We organise by genre and then alphabetically, my hubbie is obsessed with it, he even puts the same author in series order.

I have to share a long standing mistake I made at an auction once which my hubbie won't let me forget - I walked in to see one of those beautiful old fashioned oak bookcases the type schools or old country mansions had, you know the floor to ceiling, that takes up the whole wall type, it was love at first sight and I won it, yeah!!  Until it arrived at our house, twice as large as the room we planned to put it in, oops knew I should have measured it first.  Luckily for us we have a fantastic joiner who's parents live next door and he worked his magic and the beautiful bookcase will stand and be admired for a long time to come.

  1. The bookcase sounds beautiful. I can completely understand getting caught up and going for it without measuring first! I envy your book collection. All that alphabetizing and genre sorting sounds fun!

  3. You're much more organised than I am. I have tons and tons of books. I have the series I collect in series order, the ones TBR in genres. But within the genres there is generally no system, and there's no systems as to which series go where in the room.
