Guest Post - "Our Inspiration"
by authors of "If I Should Die Before My Dog --", Joe and Cathy Connolly

We would like to first of all thank Sharon for once again hosting a tour for us, and for all the wonderful bloggers she has found to do the tour.

We were inspired to write this book when both of Cathy's parents died within a few months of each other.  Cathy's father's last words were "Take care of my baby dog."  They left behind  little "Mandy", a twelve year old pomeranian.  Cathy's brother had been the caretaker of their parents for many years, so Mandy was very fortunate.

This left us wondering how many were not that fortunate.  Including our dogs and all the dogs left alone, through death, health impairment, having to give them up to a rescue, divorce, financial woes, and many other circumstances that happen to all of us in life.  These heartbroken, frightened dogs are suddenly left without their human parents, without anyone knowing the "story" of their lives.

This interactive workbook is meant to ease this trauma by going with the dog to the next caregiver.  This transition can be eased by having all of the needed information about the dog such as: habits, grooming, medical, words they know, nicknames, how they were trained and much, much more.  If this book were never needed it then becomes a precious keepsake of  your dear companions life with you.

Our hopes for this book are, that it reaches many dogs and their families and gives comfort and peace of mind to this worrisome subject. We have been "secret pet Angels" helping those who cannot afford  medical treatment, surgery, spaying, neutering etc. for their pets. We also help support many non-profit pet charities.  Now, with this book, we wish to help many more pets in need.

We're what we consider "accidental authors", we took a fleeting thought and after much research on the subject found nothing covering this category.  We had no idea what we were getting into!  After some time we found you don't just publish and go.   And then, watching television one night we saw that if you want to promote something------you join twitter!  Twitter turned out to be one of the best things we could have done.   We met wonderful people there such as Barbara Brunner, author of "Dog-ma, Zen of Slobber" and Clive Eaton, author of "Pyramid Legacy".  These authors gave us many marketing tips and great ideas on how to promote our book.  We give them a very special thank you for their help and guidance.

We are looking forward to the tour and hope everyone enjoys it as much as we will!  Thank you for following!

  1. I loved the comment "We are accidental authors".... Sometimes books are written because of something that the author just feels and can't contain! Looks like a great inspirational read!
