Happy Halloween! Poem - Halloween is Here

HALLOWEEN IS HERE

It's time for Halloween,

A day for trick or treat 
When the kids dress up in costume, 
And walk proudly down the street. 

They ring alot of door bells, 
And collect alot of candy too, 
And if they happen to see a ghost, 
They will be greated with a boo. 

Pumpkins light up the windows,
And decorations adorn the front yard, 
So be careful when you come in, 
Because the skeleton will be on guard. 

So go have alot of fun, 
And don't have any fear, 
Because it will soon be over, 
And you'll have to wait till next year.

Barbara grew up in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania with her parents, sister and always a dog, or two or three. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from a small women's college in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Meeting her husband in Washington, DC, they continued together on a journey as self-proclaimed dog addicts. In the ensuing years, she founded three successful businesses in the Pacific Northwest and is a prolific fundraiser for breast cancer research. She and her husband are retired and now reside in Southwest Florida with two dogs and copious amounts of dog fur. She is currently working on indulging her well known flip flop addiction.

Our Book Review
Anyone who loves dogs and animals will thoroughly enjoy this book, you will find the authors love, compassion and kindness to her dogs unconditional and the sacrifices both her and her husband make are unbelievable.

Reading the book will make you laugh out loud at the antics of the dogs, I especially liked the one about the two dogs escaping on a daily basis to visit an old couple who would feed them and them bring them back home, which had been going on for months unbeknownst to the author and her husband.

As a dog lover you will just fall in love with all the dogs, as each character trait is described humorously and is taken as part of the package to not only the couple but to all dogs owners out there.  You will also cry and feel the sadness as the author explains the illness and the ultimate demise of her dogs.

This is a truly honest and emotive account of how much one couple love their dogs and how they mean the world to them.  This is one book that anyone who has owned a dog will relate to and you will find yourself recognizing some of the traits and exploits in your own dogs. An excellent read.

For Zombie lovers or not - recovering after watching Dead Snow

I'm still actually trying to decide if I love it or hate it, in fact I spent a third of the film with my eyes shut but I suppose that's a good outcome for a zombie movie, right?

Have you watched Dead Snow yet?  The dvd cover reads "Zombies, Nazis, Blood on snow...... I't doesn't get any better", then lower down it's rated age 18, warning bells should have gone off then but I was feeling up to watching it, wasn't I?

Very slow to start with, you wonder if you should bother continuing watching it or not to be honest, glad I did though in a weird sort of way.  Set in a remote winter wonderland in Norway, the story follows a group of medical students on vacation together in a traditional log cabin which turns into a bloodbath once the Nazi zombies come from under the woods.   Be prepared to watch bodies being ripped to shreds, intestines and even a brain popping out.  Although this sounds gruesome and a little bit cheesey the effects are really good and if you enjoy a horror movie give this a go this halloween.

Our Book Review

I was really intrigued when I read the book description about being able to travel to different dimensions of live and I was certainly not disappointed.  In fact, after reading the first couple of chapters I was hooked.  The chapters are nice and short, which makes it so easy to read 'just one more' then another and another.  I didn't want to put the book down and looked forward to picking it back up to read more.  A very quick read for a slow reader like myself.

Without giving too much away, the story follows the main characters Jane, a physics student, her other half Randy and Anton Zelov, a former soviet spy.  Imagine one day being married to the love of your life then in a split second being sent to another dimension where all is lost and you are married to your enemy.

A black box called the multiverser had been created at the lab where Jane was placed that allowed people to travel to other dimensions where life was totally different each time you entered.  In order to travel to multiple dimensions you need the masterboard to control it.  The dark side called The Order, led by Anton Zelov, wanted all this to himself so he could have total world domination.  He was also infatuated with Jane and would do anything to get her.  The power struggle begins as Jane and the side for justice The Federation will not allow Anton to get away with this.

You follow the story through various dimensions feeling the shock, sadness and desperation of the characters involved as they cope with loss, entrapment and confusion of what they face in each dimension. The author has done a fantastic job with the complex storyline, it was easy to follow and I only found myself referring back a couple of times.

The story is full of twists and turns and you really feel the characters emotions as you read.  I really enjoyed the book and would absolutely recommend it.
